Affiliate disclosure

How we make money from links, and why it never changes what we recommend.

Last updated: July 2026

The short version

Some links on ChickenCount are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission. This costs you nothing extra, the price you pay is the same either way, and it's how we keep the calculators free and ad-light.

What this means in practice

When we mention a specific feed brand, coop, or piece of equipment in a guide, that link may be an affiliate link (commonly through the Amazon Associates program). We only link to products we'd genuinely recommend to someone keeping backyard chickens; commission potential doesn't decide what gets recommended.

Advertising

We may also display ads through services like Google AdSense. These are separate from affiliate links and are shown based on general advertising algorithms, not our editorial choices.

Federal Trade Commission compliance

This disclosure is provided in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's guidelines on endorsements and testimonials, which require that any material connection between a reviewer and a product be clearly disclosed.

Questions

If you want to know whether a specific link on the site is an affiliate link, ask us at hello@chickencount.com and we'll tell you plainly.
